What we are

We are an educational and document-packaging service for small business owners navigating SBA COVID EIDL servicing, Treasury cross-servicing, and related federal collections processes. Our work is administrative — we help borrowers gather, organize, and submit information to the appropriate agency or contractor using publicly available SBA and Treasury procedures.

What we are not

• We are not a law firm.
• We do not provide legal advice, legal opinions, or strategic legal counsel.
• We do not represent borrowers in court, before the SBA Office of Hearings & Appeals, or in any administrative adjudication.
• We do not negotiate settlements on a borrower's behalf the way an attorney would.
• We do not offer tax, accounting, financial-planning, or investment advice.
• We do not guarantee any specific outcome with the SBA, Treasury, or any collection contractor.

What you should do if you need a lawyer

If your situation involves litigation, a lawsuit, a wage garnishment, a federal lien, criminal exposure, bankruptcy, or any contested legal proceeding, retain a licensed attorney in your state. A document-packaging service is not a substitute for legal representation. Many state and local bar associations offer lawyer-referral services and reduced-fee programs for small businesses.

How our work integrates with attorneys

Many of our clients are concurrently represented by their own counsel. We do not interfere with that relationship. With the client's written authorization we will share our document package directly with their attorney so the attorney can review, edit, or submit it under their own engagement letter. Communication between you and your attorney remains protected by attorney-client privilege; communication between you and SmallBiz Recon™ is not attorney-client privileged.

Authorization & UPL boundaries

By engaging SmallBiz Recon™ you acknowledge that we are providing document preparation and educational services only, consistent with applicable rules on the unauthorized practice of law (UPL) in your jurisdiction. We will not select legal strategy on your behalf, advise you on the legal effect of a document, or counsel you on rights you may waive by signing one. If you ask us a question that crosses into legal advice, we will decline and refer you to counsel.

Federal agency & vendor relationships

SmallBiz Recon™ is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by the U.S. Small Business Administration, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the SBA COVID EIDL Servicing Center, the Bureau of the Fiscal Service, Coast Professional, CBE Group, or any other federal contractor. References to these entities throughout our materials are descriptive and educational only.
